How to Install eSIM via QR Code

Scanning the QR code is the fastest and most straightforward way to install your Roamix eSIM — the whole process takes under 3 minutes. The key is using the correct scanning method inside Settings (not your regular camera app) and having a clear, bright display of the QR code ready on a second screen.

Where Is My Roamix QR Code?

After purchase, your QR code is delivered in two places:

  1. Order confirmation email — sent to the email address on your Roamix account within seconds of payment. Search your inbox for "Roamix" or "Your eSIM is ready."
  2. Your Roamix dashboard — log in at roamix.app → tap My eSIMs → select your order. The QR code is displayed there alongside your manual installation codes.

If you can't find the email, check your spam folder. If it's still not there, log in to your Roamix account — the QR code is always accessible from your dashboard regardless of email delivery.

How to Scan the QR Code Correctly

The most important thing to know: you must scan from inside your phone's Settings, not from the Camera app. The Camera app on both iPhone and Android doesn't know how to process an eSIM profile — it will just try to open a website or do nothing useful.

On iPhone

  1. Open the Roamix QR code on a laptop, tablet, or a friend's phone
  2. On your iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code
  3. A camera view will appear within Settings
  4. Point your iPhone at the QR code — hold it steady at 6–8 inches distance
  5. The plan details will appear automatically when the code is read
  6. Tap ContinueAdd Cellular Plan → label it "Roamix" → Done

On Samsung Galaxy

  1. Open the QR code on another device
  2. On your Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager → Add SIM → Scan QR code
  3. Hold your phone steady over the QR code

On Google Pixel

  1. Open the QR code on another device
  2. On your Pixel: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → + → Download a SIM instead → Next → Scan
  3. Point your Pixel's camera at the QR code

Tips for a Clean Scan

If the scanner isn't picking up the code, try these adjustments:

  • Max screen brightness on the device displaying the QR code — dim screens are the most common reason scans fail
  • Optimal distance — hold your phone 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) from the screen; too close or too far will cause blur
  • Clean your camera lens — a smudged lens causes the code to appear blurry to the sensor even if it looks clear to you
  • Stable Wi-Fi — your phone needs an active Wi-Fi connection to download the eSIM profile after scanning; make sure you're connected before starting
  • No glare — if the screen is reflecting light, angle it slightly or move to a different position
  • Dark background — a white QR code on a light background is harder to read; if displaying on a laptop, try dark mode or a black browser background

If Scanning Fails

If you've tried the tips above and scanning still isn't working, switch to manual installation — it's just as reliable and doesn't require a camera:

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Enter Details Manually
  • Android: During the QR scan step, look for "Enter manually" or "I don't have a QR code"
  • Paste in the SM-DP+ address and Activation Code from your Roamix dashboard or email

Can I Reuse the QR Code?

No. Each Roamix QR code is single-use for security reasons. Once your eSIM has been successfully downloaded using the code, scanning it a second time will return an error such as "This code is no longer valid" or "QR Code is Not Valid."

This is by design — it prevents someone else from scanning your code and stealing your plan. If you need to reinstall your eSIM (for example after a factory reset), contact support@roamix.app and we'll assess your case.

Where do I find my Roamix eSIM QR code?

Your QR code is in your order confirmation email (sent within seconds of purchase) and also available in your Roamix dashboard at roamix.app → My eSIMs. If you can't find the email, log in to your account — the QR code is always accessible there.

Can I scan the eSIM QR code more than once?

No. Each QR code is single-use. Once you've successfully installed the eSIM, the code is invalidated and will return an error if scanned again. If you need to reinstall, contact Roamix support — they can assess whether a replacement is possible.

Why can't I use my camera app to scan the QR code?

The regular Camera app can't process an eSIM profile — it's not designed for that purpose. You must scan from inside your phone's SIM settings. On iPhone, go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code. On Android, find the Add SIM option in your network settings.

What if the QR code image is blurry or won't load?

Log in to roamix.app → My eSIMs to access the QR code directly in your browser, which typically renders at higher quality than an email client. If the image still won't display clearly, use the manual installation codes shown on the same page — they work identically to the QR code.
