Do I need to be at my destination to install the eSIM?

No — and we actually recommend installing it before you travel. You can install your eSIM at home over any Wi-Fi connection. The plan won't activate or start counting down until your device connects to a supported local network at your destination. This means you can install days in advance without wasting any plan time.

Is my phone compatible with Roamix eSIM?

Most smartphones released since 2018 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and many other Android flagships. You also need your device to be carrier-unlocked. The easiest way to check is to go to Settings > Cellular and look for 'Add eSIM' or 'Add Data Plan'. Can I keep my regular phone number while using the eSIM?

Yes. The Roamix eSIM works in parallel with your existing physical SIM using your phone's dual-SIM capability. Your regular number stays active for calls and texts, while the eSIM provides affordable data connectivity. Most travelers set their home SIM as the default for calls and their Roamix eSIM as the default for mobile data.

What happens when I run out of data?

Roamix will notify you at 50% and 80% data usage so you can plan ahead. If your data runs out, internet connectivity simply pauses — there are no automatic billing overages. You can top up additional data instantly from your Roamix dashboard without reinstalling the eSIM. Your connection resumes within seconds of a successful top-up.

Can I use my eSIM on multiple devices?

Each eSIM is installed on one device only. Once a QR code is scanned and the eSIM profile is added to a device, it's bound to that device's hardware (EID) and cannot be transferred or installed again on another phone. However, you can purchase additional eSIM plans for other devices and manage everything from one Roamix account.

Can I use the eSIM as a hotspot to share data?

This depends on your device and carrier settings. Most modern iPhones and Android phones allow you to create a Wi-Fi hotspot (tethering) from an eSIM data line. Check your phone's hotspot settings — if Personal Hotspot or Mobile Hotspot is available while your Roamix eSIM is active, it should work. Keep in mind that hotspot usage drains data significantly faster than normal browsing.

Can I delete and reinstall my eSIM if needed?

This varies. Some eSIM profiles from Roamix support re-download (you can reinstall from your account dashboard). For profiles that do not support reinstallation, deleting the eSIM from your device is permanent. We always recommend checking the plan details before deleting. If you're switching phones, contact our support team before removing your eSIM from the current device.

The specific carrier your device connects to in each country depends on the local network partners for that plan and your device's band compatibility. Generally, you connect to the highest-quality available network automatically.

Does my Roamix plan work for unlimited data?

Most Roamix plans are data-capped plans (e.g., 1GB, 5GB, 10GB) rather than unlimited. This helps keep prices low and transparent. For heavy data users, we recommend buying a larger plan upfront, as high-data plans offer significantly better per-GB value than smaller ones. Top-ups are always available if you need more.
