Motorola Razr 40 / Ultra / Razr+ (2023)

The Motorola Razr 40 (marketed as Razr in the US) and Razr 40 Ultra (marketed as Razr+ in the US) both support eSIM on the global variant. One active eSIM alongside physical nano-SIM.

Critical foldable note: eSIM activation requires the phone to be fully unfolded. The outer Quick View screen cannot access Settings or initiate QR scanning. Open the phone completely and proceed through the inner display.

US carrier variant: Motorola releases separate US carrier hardware builds (Verizon, T-Mobile). These may ship without eSIM hardware even though the global Razr 40 includes it. If purchased through a US carrier, confirm the model number before purchasing an eSIM.

How to Activate eSIM on Motorola Razr 40 or Razr+

The setup process is simple and requires a stable Wi-Fi connection:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Network & internet.
3. Tap SIMs.
4. Select Add SIM (the + icon).
5. Tap Download a SIM instead.
6. Scan the QR code provided by Roamix.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the profile.
8. Set the Roamix eSIM as your preferred data SIM.
9. Turn on Data Roaming for the newly installed line.

Razr 40 eSIM for International Travel

Roamix works with any unlocked Razr 40 or Razr+. Purchase a plan, scan the QR code with the phone fully open, and connect to local partner networks on arrival.

Carrier unlock check: Settings → About phone → SIM status. Contact your carrier to unlock if needed.

Troubleshooting Razr 40 eSIM

QR code won't scan: The Razr 40 must be fully unfolded (main inner display active) to scan the QR code during eSIM installation. The Quick View cover screen cannot be used. Open the flip fully and retry from Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.

"Download a SIM instead" not visible: Carrier lock or US carrier-branded hardware without eSIM. Check your model number at Settings → About phone. Contact your carrier to unlock if needed.

eSIM installed but no data abroad: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → select Roamix → enable Data Roaming → set as preferred data SIM. Toggle Airplane Mode on/off.

No "Download a SIM instead" after carrier unlock: Restart the device after the carrier unlock completes. Some Motorola builds require a reboot before the eSIM menu becomes available after an unlock is applied. If still absent after reboot, the device may be a US carrier hardware build without eSIM — check the model number in Settings → About phone → Model.
