Motorola Edge 40 Series

The 2023 Motorola Edge 40, 40 Pro, and 40 Neo support eSIM on the global variant. US carrier-branded models may not include eSIM. Activation: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → + → Download a SIM instead.

The Motorola Edge 40 series (2023) — Edge 40, 40 Pro, and 40 Neo — all support eSIM on the global variant. One active eSIM at a time alongside the physical nano-SIM.

US carrier variant warning: Motorola releases separate hardware builds for US carriers (Verizon, T-Mobile). These US-specific models may ship without eSIM hardware. Confirm your device is the global variant by checking the model number at Settings → About phone → Model before purchasing a Roamix plan.

Activation path note: Motorola runs near-stock Android (My UX overlay), so there is no Samsung-style SIM Manager. The eSIM option is at Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → + → Download a SIM instead.

Does the Edge 40 Series Support eSIM?

Yes. Every member of the Edge 40 family includes an eSIM chip on the global variant. One active eSIM runs alongside the physical nano-SIM at any time — keep your home line active while adding a separate data line abroad.

Roamix works with any unlocked global Edge 40. Purchase a plan, scan the QR code on Wi-Fi, and the phone connects to local partner networks on arrival.

Carrier unlock check: Settings → About phone → SIM status. Contact your carrier to request an unlock if the device is locked.

Troubleshooting Edge 40 eSIM

"Download a SIM instead" not visible: The most common cause is a US carrier-branded model without eSIM hardware, or carrier lock. Check your model number at Settings → About phone — a US carrier model may lack eSIM entirely. For carrier lock on global models, contact your carrier.

eSIM installed but no data abroad: Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs, select the Roamix eSIM, enable Data Roaming, and set Roamix as the preferred data SIM. Toggle Airplane Mode on/off to reset network registration.

QR code scan fails: Must be on Wi-Fi. If scanning fails, use manual entry with the SM-DP+ address from your Roamix confirmation email — tap "Enter manually" during the activation flow.

"Download a SIM instead" absent after carrier unlock: Restart the device after the carrier unlock is applied. Some Motorola builds require a reboot before the eSIM menu appears. If still missing after reboot, the device may be a US carrier hardware build without eSIM — check model number at Settings → About phone → Model.

Motorola Edge 40 Series eSIM — Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Motorola Edge 40 have eSIM?

The global variant does. Edge 40, 40 Pro, and 40 Neo global models support eSIM alongside a physical nano-SIM. US carrier-branded Edge 40 units sold by Verizon or T-Mobile may not include eSIM hardware — check your model number at Settings → About phone.

Why is 'Download a SIM instead' not visible on my Edge 40?

Two causes: (1) US carrier-branded model without eSIM hardware — confirm model number in Settings → About phone; (2) carrier lock — contact your carrier to request an unlock. Motorola uses near-stock Android (My UX) — eSIM is at Settings → Network & internet → SIMs, not a Samsung-style SIM Manager.

How to activate eSIM on Motorola Edge 40?

Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → + icon → Download a SIM instead → scan Roamix QR code. Device must be on Wi-Fi. Set the new eSIM as your data line and enable Data Roaming after installation.

Does Edge 40 support Dual eSIM?

No. The Edge 40 series supports one active eSIM alongside one physical nano-SIM. Dual eSIM is not available on Motorola Edge 40 models.
