Lenovo Yoga eSIM support applies only to configurations ordered with the WWAN (LTE/5G) module. Most Yoga laptops ship Wi-Fi-only; cellular is a configure-to-order option selected at purchase. The module cannot be added after the fact.
Confirming your hardware: Go to Windows Settings → Network & Internet. If a 'Cellular' section is present, the WWAN module is installed and eSIM is available. If the section is absent, the laptop is Wi-Fi-only.
No carrier unlock needed: Unlike smartphones, Yoga laptops are not sold through mobile carriers and are not carrier-locked. Roamix and other third-party eSIM providers can be installed directly through Windows Settings without any unlock request.
How to Activate eSIM on Yoga Laptops
- Press Windows + I to open the Settings menu.
- Navigate to Network & Internet.
- Select Cellular.
- Click Add a cellular plan or Manage eSIM profiles.
- Select Scan a QR code.
- Scan the Roamix QR code received via email — device must be on Wi-Fi.
- Follow the prompts to finalize the installation.
- Toggle Data Roaming to ON for the Roamix profile.
Troubleshooting Yoga eSIM
"Cellular" section missing in Windows Settings: Your Yoga was ordered without the WWAN module — it is a Wi-Fi-only configuration. This cannot be fixed by a driver update or BIOS change; the LTE/5G modem is a physical component that must be installed at the factory. Contact Lenovo support to confirm if your model supports aftermarket WWAN installation.
Profile download fails or QR scan not recognized: Scan within the Windows Cellular menu only — the standard Windows Camera app will not initiate eSIM provisioning. If scanning fails, enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your Roamix confirmation email manually under "Enter activation code."
Cellular toggle greyed out or inactive: Some Yoga models disable cellular when a strong Wi-Fi signal is detected. Turn off Wi-Fi first to see if the Cellular toggle activates. If still greyed out, check Lenovo Vantage → My Device → System Hardware for pending WWAN firmware updates.
No data connection after activation: Verify the Roamix profile is set as the active plan: Settings → Network & Internet → Cellular → Advanced settings. Also confirm Data Roaming is ON and the APN field is set to "internet" (Roamix standard APN).
