Dynabook (formerly Toshiba) Portégé and Tecra LTE/5G models use eSIM as their only cellular interface — there is no physical SIM tray. Wi-Fi-only Portégé and Tecra configurations have no cellular hardware at all.
No carrier unlock needed: Dynabook laptops are enterprise devices sold direct, not through mobile carriers. They are not carrier-locked. Roamix and other eSIM providers install directly through Windows without any unlock process.
BIOS verification: If the Cellular section is missing in Windows despite your Dynabook having a WWAN module, the modem may be disabled in the BIOS/UEFI. Enter the BIOS (F2 at boot) → Advanced → Wireless Device settings → set WWAN to Enabled.
How to Activate eSIM on Dynabook Laptops
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Network & Internet.
- Select Cellular.
- Click Add a cellular plan or Manage eSIM profiles.
- Select Scan a QR code.
- Scan the Roamix QR code received via email — laptop must be on Wi-Fi.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the download.
- Toggle Data Roaming to ON for the Roamix profile.
Troubleshooting Dynabook eSIM
"Cellular" section missing in Windows Settings: Two causes: (1) your Dynabook is a Wi-Fi-only model — no WWAN hardware; (2) the WWAN module is disabled in BIOS. Enter BIOS (F2 at boot) → Advanced → check for 'WWAN' or 'Wireless WAN Device' and enable it. Reinstall WWAN drivers from Dynabook Support if the modem still isn't detected.
Profile download fails or QR scan not recognized: The scan must occur within Windows Cellular settings — not the Camera app. If the scan fails, enter the SM-DP+ server address and activation code from your Roamix email manually under "Enter activation code" in the Cellular add plan screen.
Behind a corporate VPN or firewall: Enterprise Dynabook deployments often have VPN software that intercepts outbound traffic. Disconnect from VPN before initiating the eSIM download — the Windows provisioning service needs direct internet access to the eSIM server.
No data after activation: Set the Roamix profile as active: Settings → Network & Internet → Cellular → select Roamix → set as active profile. Enable Data Roaming. If data does not flow, verify APN is "internet." Update WWAN firmware via Dynabook Support Desk — Sierra Wireless (Sierra EM7455) and Fibocom modules both have Dynabook-specific firmware packages.

Dynabook Portégé & Tecra Series eSIM — Frequently Asked Questions
Which Dynabook laptops have eSIM?
Portégé X30, X40, X50 and Tecra A40, A50 models configured with LTE or 5G WWAN support eSIM. These models are eSIM-only with no physical SIM tray. Wi-Fi-only Portégé and Tecra models have no cellular hardware. Confirm in Windows Settings → Network & Internet.
Do I need to carrier-unlock my Dynabook for Roamix?
No. Dynabook laptops (formerly Toshiba) are not carrier-locked. Any eSIM provider including Roamix installs directly via Windows Settings → Network & Internet → Cellular → Add a cellular plan. No carrier contact or unlock request is needed.
How do I check if my Dynabook has eSIM?
Go to Windows Settings → Network & Internet. If a 'Cellular' section is present, the WWAN module is installed. If missing, check the BIOS — look for 'WWAN' or 'Wireless WAN' under Advanced settings and ensure it is Enabled.
How do I activate eSIM on a Dynabook Portégé or Tecra?
Press Windows + I → Network & Internet → Cellular → Add a cellular plan → Scan a QR code. Scan the Roamix QR code while on Wi-Fi. Enable Data Roaming after install. No physical SIM is needed — Dynabook LTE models use eSIM only.
